Infection Control Practice for the Dental Workforces on the Management of the Incremental Dental Health Care System

Abstract


Objective: Study on the infection control practice for the dental workforces who have been managed the incremental oral health care system.

Methods: Thirty of the female dental workforces who have joined the incremental dental health care system at Y dental clinic and K dental clinic in Gwangju city were participated in this study for the practical performances about the infection control items. The questionnaire method was applied with 5 questions for general aspect and 17 questions for infection control practice with Likert 5 scale degree.

Results: It showed high score in such items as using medical gloves and prepare the isolated waste box for extracted tissue as over 4.0 points and well done as 3.5 to 4.0 points as such items for the hand wash events, discard of the waste stuffs for dental treatment or use the rubber glove and preparing the special infection control program for virulent positive dental patient, but relatively less as under 3.5 points for such items as exchange the facial mask for individual patient, using the goggle glass and sterilization for the dental unit-chair, suction tip or hand-piece idling.

Conclusion: It was recommended to emphasize the education or training completely for basic infection control items about the concept and practice for dental workforces.
